Today was Gold 5’s last day in Green River. They left at 8 this morning to head back to Sacramento where they will be preparing for their next project in Montana. Since arriving the first week of January, Gold 5 has been incredibly busy making waves and serving the community of Green River. Everyone worked in the schools helping in classes from Kindergarten to High School with reading and math and lesson plans and grading. They were even busier when not in school. At the Thrift Store, they reorganized both the display areas and the back room building a number of shelves to help better store and organize shipments of donations. In the Community Center kitchen, they cooked, baked, and delivered meals to the seniors. Their energy and enthusiasm helped greatly in the Afterschool Program where they read with kids and helped with homework, planned and organized activities, and brought in kids who rarely came to the program. Outside of these areas, they all helped on other projects such as mapping bike routes, tracking team economic impact, researching and writing grants, planning a skate off, helping with HeadStart, and being awesome. Adventurous, innovative, and motivated- Thank you to Gold 5- Legends of the Wild West!
