AmeriCorps NCCC Team Starts Service in Green River
The AmeriCorps NCCC Team, Silver 4, has been serving in Green River for the past 4 weeks and has been having a wonderful time.
Since they arrived on May 17th, the team has felt welcomed and part of the Green River family. Each staff member involved has been more than friendly and willing to help the team become acclimated to the town and the culture around them.
The members of Silver 4 are presently assisting in a wide range of areas such as; helping to provide social services to community residents, assisting in the development and implementation of youth recreation/prevention programs as well as helping to build the first Habitat for Humanity Home within the community. The team is also involved with Boys and Girls Club Summer Camp which entails leading activities such as music, dance, cooking, gardening, swimming, archery, baseball, and equestrian activities. The team is excited for this opportunity to share their skills and experience with the children. The P.A.C.T focuses their mission on promoting healthy lifestyles while providing affordable housing assistance. Member Miranda Waldoch states “knowing that the members of P.A.C.T. and the staff at the Community Center are so heavily invested in helping the town, motivates our team to feel the same fervor for the project.”
The experience has already been so memorable and the team can’t wait to see what else is in store for the next 4 weeks. Thank you Green River for making the first half of Silver 4’s stay so great!
