AmeriCorps NCCC Team Helps with Summer Camp
The AmeriCorps NCCC team, Silver 4, has been helping the staff at the Community Center run the Treasure Island Summer Camp and they encourage all to participate. It has been a wonderful outlet for children to be creative, play and learn about many different subjects. The weekly schedule includes horseback riding on Mondays, gardening on Tuesdays, treasure hunts and music on Wednesdays, swimming on Thursdays, archery or dance on Fridays, and much more! A special addition to the program are the anti-smoking and Too Good For Drugs learning sessions that focus on avoiding outside pressures and making the right choices.
The summer camp has allowed Silver 4 and the Community Center staff to open their arms to the children of Green River and new kids join everyday. Unfortunately, the camp will only run until July 8th, which is the team’s last day. So far, it has been a wonderful experience for Silver 4 and the kids with many great times to be had during the next 3 weeks!
